/Welcome to the Future/175/Livestreams and new releases 21-May 2021

We hurtle toward the end of May, and hopefully an actual summer soon, and Livestreams will resume from me next week. In addition, I’ve overhauled the events page in a big way, so see the link further down for that. Livestreams and waiting for new releases seem to be the order of the day, for now, still, so I continue to wrap up both, as well as the tentative announcements for new in-person events and gigs.

Also, if you missed them, read my roundup of 2020 in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Contents

/Releases out today or recently
Gary Numan / Intruder /Bandcamp
The electronic/industrial survivor returns with his latest album.
Hallowed Hearts / Ruins EP /Bandcamp
Hallowed Hearts released an excellent post-punk/goth album last year, this is a new EP to follow that.
Monster Magnet / A Better Dystopia /Bandcamp
Monster Magnet dig into their obscure psych-rock inspirations for a covers album.
Pixel Grip / Arena /Bandcamp
A fascinating release from this Chicago band – somewhere between trip-hop, minimal wave and thumping EBM.

/Upcoming releases announced this week

04-Jun 2021 / Slighter / VOID /Bandcamp
The new Slighter album can now be pre-ordered. I’ve heard it, and it is a really great release.
11-Jun 2021 / Dim Gray / FLOWN /Bandcamp
An expanded re-issue of an album I must have missed last year – dark, folky alternative from this Norwegian band.
18-Jun 2021 / Heavy Temple / Lupi Amoris /Bandcamp
Psych-doom from the US…
02-Jul 2021 / Lucia Cifarelli / I Am Eye /Bandcamp
Lucia from KMFDM’s second solo album.
09-Jul 2021 / Mountain Caller / Chronicle: Prologue /Bandcamp
London-based instrumental prog, following up their album from last year.
01-Aug 2021 / Hooded Menace / The Tritonus Bell /Bandcamp
Doomy-death metal that nods to 80s heavy metal (and sounds all the better for it).
06-Aug 2021 / Information Society / ODDfellows /Info
The long-running electronic/experimental band return with their new album.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events
Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
