/Welcome to the Future/156/Livestreams and new release round-up/18-Dec 2020

This bizarre, weird year is nearly over – and this weekly release and events roundup has one more post this year. New music has almost dried up for the year, but the events listing is still being updated, but obviously, an awful lot is being postponed, cancelled or changed right now. Thanks for reading this year, and I’ll be back in the first week of 2021 with a wrap of new music coming your way for the new year.

In the meantime, read my roundup of this year in the form of /Countdown/2020. /Countdown/2020/Albums, /Countdown/2020/Tracks, and /Countdown/2020/Compilations and Re-issues.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon.

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/This Week/New Releases

Despite having been playing tracks from it at /Stormblast in recent months, I still missed mentioning this exceptional album last week: Icelandic Black Metallers FORTÍÐ put out World Serpent, which is brutal, technical and simply brilliant.

Unusually, the releases this week are almost all metal-related. The one new album to talk about this week comes from Akhlys, whose searing, pitch-dark Melinoë is well worth your time.

/This Week/Upcoming Releases

Across this year, A. A. Williams has released a number of exceptional, stark covers of some of her favourite songs, and they are (rightly) being collated on an album, Songs from Isolation, out on 12-Feb. Out the following week, on 19-Feb, is the first new album from Australian black metal/industrial band The Amenta, Revelator. Lead single Sere Money has a really strange, unsettling video.

Perhaps not entirely surprising, but Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard are now officially M W W B, and they release new album The Harvest on 19-Mar.

/Upcoming/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

This weekly listing has now seen a significant overhaul and has moved over to a Shareable calendar format. The below draws direct from a GCal I’ve long maintained, and you can add it to your own calendar views if you wish (GCal link, iCal link), and then you will get dynamic updates as I get them. Otherwise, see the events listing below – click on the links to bring up the Calendar entry.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

There might be one more post from me this year – a special /Tuesday Ten, potentially – but otherwise, I’m now taking a break until the New Year. Thanks for reading.

The next upcoming livestreams from /amodelofcontrol.com can always be found here. Coming up this week is /TheKindaMzkYouLike/008/The Christmas Indie Disco, this coming Tuesday.
