Welcome to the Future: 076: Events, gigs and new release round-up 22-March 2019

It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – had begun the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released a few months ago (transmission: 012). transmission: 013 will be out as soon as I have the time to rebuild the whole damned thing…

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

An exclusive new video was shared by amodelofcontrol this week: look to Welcome to the Future: 075 for the first look at the new video for St. Rowland by the ever-excellent The Golden Age of Nothing.

After the chaotic, unusually busy release schedule at the start of 2019, though, things seem to have calmed down a little bit at least.

Out this week are the debut album from Steven Siebold’s new project Muet, and the new PIG remix album Stripped & Whipped.

As well as those, the collaborative project between Phil Barry and Keef Baker, Word Made Flesh, released their new album Everything and Nothing earlier this week, while another “supergroup” in the form of Voster also returned this week with an unexpected new EP named VSTR.

Also out today is the sprawling re-issue of Mansun’s second album Six, a complex album on release, never mind twenty-one years later…

One excellent album last year was Martin Bisi’s BC35 project, and happily a second volume is on the way. Also of note is a new song from Hazmat with Jared Louche, from a forthcoming EP.

It would also appear that new 3TEETH material is imminent, with what seems to be a short snippet of a rip-roaring new track posted on their Instagram account last night. Also coming soon is new music from Einstürzende Neubauten, who announced the Supporter Phase IV to being recording their next album.

Other Music News

Myspace has apparently “lost” (forever) the best part of twelve years-worth of music, and in some respects, I’m rather surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. That said, there’s no doubt that it will happen again, too, elsewhere…

Finally, too: why you need earplugs at gigs. I always wear them, but going to fifty or more gigs a year, why wouldn’t I?
