Welcome to the Future: 074: Events, gigs and new release round-up 15-March 2019

It’s Friday, therefore time for the usual amodelofcontrol.com round-up of new music coming your way this week and soon, as well as a look at the events and gigs in the future, and finally nods to any other notable news that affects artists and music that I cover here.

transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – had begun the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes here. The latest episode was released a few months ago (transmission: 012). transmission: 013 will be out as soon as I have the time to rebuild the whole damned thing…

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the new Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”).

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

New and Upcoming Releases this week

With me being away last week, there’s a bit to catch up on.

Notable new releases: Gesaffelstein returned with Hyperion (which has had something of a lukewarm reception, I must get to listening to it myself this weekend), while Amanda Palmer returned with her first solo album in a while in the form of the sprawling There Will Be No Intermission.

Another long-awaited album dropped this week from Randolph & Mortimer, in the form of the exceptional Manifesto For A Modern World (link to the review posted yesterday below). While Matt Fanale of Caustic continues his insane release schedule, with the latest release from his Daddybear project (UNF!).

Then there are upcoming releases from Meat Beat Manifesto (Opaque Couché), [:SITD:] (new single Sturmlicht next month, then album Stunde X in May), The National (I Am Easy to Find) and L7 (Scatter the Rats).

Finally, a really surprising reappearance is that of Rosetta Stone, who release their first album in twenty years in May.

Other Music News

A number of worthwhile stories to read from the past couple of weeks.

Firstly, two of the best frontwomen in metal take on idiotic sexists, and the NME have a great article about fast-rising gig ticket prices

Also worth noting here – as I was away when it happened – the sad news that Keith Flint of the Prodigy took his own life last week.

Finally, Scientists have confirmed (again) that Death Metal doesn’t make people violent
