/Welcome to the Future /222 /Events, Livestreams and new releases 19-Aug 2022

Just one week to Infest, and while we wait, here’s this week’s new release roundup.

This post is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/Events, Livestreams and new releases 19-Aug 2022
/Previous /221/12-Aug /220/29-Jul /219/15-Jul

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/Album of the Week
19-Aug 2022 / SRSQ / Ever Crashing /Bandcamp
Kennedy Ashlyn returns with a second SRSQ album, and it is an utterly sublime, overwhelming album – as they have concocted a glorious, romantic shoegaze-darkwave whole that has almost infinite depth sonically, and of course is anchored by Ashlyn’s extraordinary vocal range.

15-Jul 2022 / Hissing / Hypervirulence Architecture /Bandcamp
An album I missed until recently, but need to mention – avant-garde extreme metal of a shocking intensity from start to finish.
15-Aug 2022 / BILE / Pot Farmer Vol. 2 /Bandcamp
The sonic terrorists return with their trademark, swampy industrial sound and an unusual concept.
19-Aug 2022 / Heilung / Drif /Season of Mist Store
Heilung return with a third dose of “amplified history” that has so captivated audiences in recent years.
19-Aug 2022 / RROYCE / Rroarr /Official Artist Store
German electro-industrial that was such fun at Infest a few years back, and this new album is even better than their previous work.
19-Aug 2022 / Russian Circles / Gnosis /Bandcamp
Russian Circles continue on their steady journey, here with their trademark, thunderous post-metal accompanied by perhaps more reflective pieces than they’ve attempted in a while.

19-Aug 2022 / ACTORS / Reanimated /Bandcamp
ACTORS remaster and reissue their debut (at long last), with additional remixes and the (live favourite) Post Traumatic Love single tacked on.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

30-Sep 2022 / Alice in Chains / Dirt (30th Anniversary Edition) /Official Artist Store
The deep, dark 1992 masterpiece from Alice In Chains gets the inevitable re-issue treatment for the 30th Anniversary.

25-Aug 2022 / Where We Sleep / Broken Bones /Bandcamp
The next single from Beth Rettig’s current project comes next week (it’s great, too).

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

Coming up this week will be /Tuesday Ten/502, and on Tuesday, in the days prior to the return of Infest, I’ll be previewing the festival with /Circling Overland /003 – playing music from bands that have played Infest over the years. Then, of course, /amodelofcontrol.com will be reporting from Infest over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
