/Welcome to the Future/208/Events, Livestreams and new releases 01-Apr 2022

Back to normal weekly postings again for the foreseeable.

The post, then, is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others and also catchup with what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Contents

/Releases out today or recently

/25-Mar 2022 / Dread Risks / Automated Disappointment /Bandcamp
I somehow missed this off last week – the really great new album from Dread Risks, which take their industrial base into sometimes unexpected directions, but with a core of great songs.
/01-Apr 2022 / Autoclav1.1 / Gone Long Before the Death of the Sun /Bandcamp
The desperate future that the Climate Crisis now seems to be showing us is the subject of the new Autoclav1.1 album, and Tony Young’s latest work is a piece of considered beauty and despair.
/01-Apr 2022 / GGGOLDDD / This Shame Should Not Be Mine /Bandcamp
Anyone who saw their streamed live performance from Roadburn last year (the highlight of the weekend) will have an idea of what to expect, but this takes it even further. An album examining personal trauma and the after-effects, and it is astonishing.
/01-Apr 2022 / GNOD / Hexen Valley /Bandcamp
GNOD turn tail a bit, and release a concept album about Hebden Bridge and the Calder Valley.
/01-Apr 2022 / Lunacy / Echo In The Memory /Bandcamp
Scorching experimental industrial that has some surprisingly light touches.
/01-Apr 2022 / Meshuggah / Immutable /Official band site
The first Meshuggah album in a while, and they continue to expand their and our horizons on it.
/01-Apr 2022 / PSY’AVIAH / Bittersweet /Bandcamp
The wildly eclectic Belgian electronic artist releases a new album, with a sprawling remix and covers (by other artists of PSY’AVIAH songs!) collection added on to mark twenty years of the project.
/01-Apr 2022 / Tempers / New Meaning /Bandcamp
A dreamy synthpop album from this excellent band, with songs that reflect the uncertainty of these times.
/01-Apr 2022 / Testube / Backwater /Bandcamp
Jeff Danos went offgrid for a while (ironic for an electronic artist, I guess), but is back in the land of electricity, and has released his first album in a long while. As before, this is intriguing, experimental electronic music, a mix of thumping industrial and deep IDM.
/01-Apr 2022 / Various Artists / The Others [Lustmord Deconstructed] /Bandcamp
A host of artists tear apart Lustmord tracks and rebuild them in their image, and the results are astoundingly good.
/01-Apr 2022 / Silver Walks / Tear Me Down (single) /Bandcamp
Pulled forward by a week, this excellent single has a trip-hop, downtempo edge to it.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

/22-Apr 2022 / synapscape / The Stable Mind /Bandcamp
The German industrial-rhythm-voice masters return.
/06-May 2022 / Girls Against Boys / House of GVSB (25th Anniversary) /Bandcamp
One of my favourite albums ever gets a double-vinyl remaster and reissue. UK readers please note – you’ll need to order through your local record shop (or somewhere such as Rough Trade), as for unknown reasons Touch & Go will not now dispatch to the UK.
/03-Jun 2022 / Encephalon / Echoes /Bandcamp
Canadian industrialist Encephalon return with their fourth album. You can hear single Someone Else’s Dream right now.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
