/Welcome to the Future/206/Events, Livestreams and new releases 18-Mar 2022

This time it is that new job, as well as our anniversary to celebrate last weekend, that has resulted in another two weeks of releases and announcements in one post, as I try to keep up…

The post, then, is a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/25-Feb 2022 / Pailhead / Trait /Bandcamp
A long-needed reissue for the short-lived Pailhead project unexpectedly arrived recently.
/11-Mar 2022 / BODEGA / Broken Equipment /Bandcamp
Brooklyn post-punks return with their second album.
/11-Mar 2022 / GHOST / Impera /Bandcamp
More bombast that I suspect will sound better live…
/11-Mar 2022 / Ho99o9 / Skin /Spotify
Unusually only released onto Digital Platforms as far as I can tell, the new Ho99o9 album doesn’t pull any punches whatsoever.
/11-Mar 2022 / Shadow Universe / Subtle Realms, Subtle Worlds /Bandcamp
Slovenian, cinematic post-rock: and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
/15-Mar 2022 / MATT HART / BELOW THE TERRA PT.1 /Bandcamp
MATT HART continues his tales of industrial futurism.
/18-Mar 2022 / Cypress Hill / Back In Black /Amazon
Apparently unaffected by time, Cypress Hill are back doing what they do.
/18-Mar 2022 / Dawn of Ashes / Scars of the Broken /Bandcamp
Industrial-extreme metal crossover from one of the original bands to do this.
/18-Mar 2022 / Principe Valiente / Barricades /Bandcamp
Elegant, emotional goth rock from this Swedish band, one of my favourite albums of the year so far.
/18-Mar 2022 / Stabbing Westward / Chasing Ghosts /Bandcamp
The first Stabbing Westward album in over twenty years feels like a return to their classic sound, and thus is great.
/19-Mar 2022 / MWWB / The Harvest /Bandcamp
Out tomorrow, the understandably delayed new MWWB album – expect titanic space doom.

/04-Mar 2022 / Slighter x Static Logic / Mirror In Darkness / Data-Loss /Bandcamp
Colin Cameron and James Church, both artists with distinctive styles, release an experimental two-track EP.
/16-Mar 2022 / Thieve6 / Inside Out /Bandcamp
Amaranth and the Joy Thieves get together for an unexpected single, with proceeds going to Razom For Ukraine.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

/01-Apr 2022 / Various Artists / The Others [Lustmord Deconstructed] /Bandcamp
An intriguing release that is something of a “tribute” to Lustmord, as a host of extreme and avant-garde artists take on tracks from Lustmord’s [ O T H E R ], and the results I’ve heard so far are strikingly different.
/14-Apr 2022 / Hocico / Hyperviolent /Bandcamp
The aggrotech veterans return with their umpteenth album.
/15-Apr 2022 / Black Agent / Industrial Ruination /Bandcamp
Stark, punchy industrial from the Pacific North West that sounds like it is going to be an essential purchase.
/29-Apr 2022 / dälek / Precipice /Bandcamp
Hip-hop experimentalists dälek are back, and single Decimation (Dis Nation) has an awful lot to say on race relations and politics, and it is awesome.
/29-Apr 2022 / Rammstein / Zeit /Official Artist Store
It’s been teased for some time, and the lead (title) single for the new R+ album finally dropped last week, and alongside another spectacular video, the song was an unexpectedly reflective piece for the lead track. Not long to wait for the album itself, at least…
/06-May 2022 / Arcade Fire / WE /Official Artist Store
Their first new album in five years, and Arcade Fire apparently return rejuvenated, with new single The Lightning I, II a slow-burning, (eventually) skyscraping anthem that harks back to why we fell in love with the band in the first place.
/05-Jun 2022 / The Utopia Strong / International Treasure /Bandcamp
The avant-prog electro explorers (and yes, the band that features Snooker legend Steve Davis) release their second album in June.
/24-Jun 2022 / ††† (Crosses) / INITIATION / PROTECTION /Official Store
Still no sign of an album, but a two-track 10″ gets released in June (with both tracks available digitally now). If you are familiar with this project, there won’t be any great surprises, but the two tracks do showcase both the rock-electro and dreamy, near trip-hop styles well.
/15-Jul 2022 / Superorganism / World Wide Pop /Official Artist Store
Reduced to (just) a five-piece, it appears Superorganism are not getting any less weird.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
