/Welcome to the Future/201/Events, Livestreams and new releases 28-Jan 2022

Back to normal on the Friday posts, then, which has evolved over time but remains, at the core, a roundup of (relevant to this site) new and upcoming music, a nod to upcoming events and livestreams both from this website and others, and also a catchup of what I’ve posted recently. Thanks to everyone who sends me new music and events, keeps me up to speed, and indeed simply reads these posts.

Here is that usual wrap of new music and suchlike this week.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

/28-Jan 2022 / CLOAKROOM / Dissolution Wave /Bandcamp
Stoner space-rock that has an unusual concept running through it this time: according to the band, “a space western in which an act of theoretical physics—the dissolution wave—wipes out all of humanity’s existing art and abstract thought”. It sounds great, mind.
/28-Jan 2022 / dexy / Sleeping Through Summer /Bandcamp
The long-awaited second album from dexy, and it’s worth the wait – breezy alt-rock with hooks for days.
/28-Jan 2022 / EELS / Extreme Witchcraft /Official Artist Store
Mark Everett returns with his fourteenth album as EELS.
/28-Jan 2022 / The Devil & The Universe / GOATopia /Bandcamp
Praise the Goat! These Austrian industrialists continue their journey…
/29-Jan 2022 / Tinderbox Collective & Kathryn Joseph / The Blood, The Weight, The Weary EP /Bandcamp
Some new perspectives on some of Kathryn Joseph’s greatest songs.

/28-Jan 2022 / Mesh / Touring Skyward – A Tour Movie /Bandcamp
A hefty, lavish release of a live film from Mesh.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

/04-Feb 2022 / Promenade Cinema / Remix Collection 1 /Bandcamp
Promenade Cinema are releasing their first remix collection next week, with a strong set of remixers onboard.
/25-Mar 2022 / Laibach / Wir Sind Das Volk (Ein Musical aus Deutschland) /Rough Trade
Laibach release their music for the theatre production of Wir Sind Das Volk (Ein Musical aus Deutschland), based on the writings of Heiner Müller. Should be an interesting release, as ever with Laibach…
/25-Mar 2022 / Suicide / Surrender: A Collection /Mute Bank
A solid-looking beginners guide to Suicide, it seems, covering tracks from across their career (and an alternative take on the legendary Frankie Teardrop).
/01-Apr 2022 / Lunacy / Echo In The Memory /Bandcamp
Nasty, distorted industrial electronics that both has a foot in minimalism and, unusually, shoegaze.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
