/Welcome To The Future/199/Events, Livestreams and new releases 14-Jan 2022

A chaotic week means a delayed post today, but there’s still a fair bit to cover. In addition, one terrible piece of music news this week was the death of Mike Wells, the mind behind Gridlock, alongside Mike Cadoo. A genuinely progressive artist who arguably changed the direction of industrial music for many, he has gone far too young.

In the meantime, here’s the usual wrap of new music and suchlike this week.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today or recently

03-Dec 2021 / Fiona Dickinson / PONY /Bandcamp
This album only came to my attention this week, but is well worth mentioning – an outstanding, inventive dreampop album.
08-Jan 2022 / Dragon & Jettenbach / Tales from the Algorithm /Bandcamp
There is something quite unsettling about the lengthy electronic experiments here (in a good way!).
10-Jan 2022 / Lucidstatic / Construct /Bandcamp
James Church’s long-running project puts out their latest, solid release of industrial/electronic textures
Out today / Analogue Blood / Equinox /Bandcamp
This “guitar driven EDM” band from NE England release their latest EP
Out today / genCAB / Thoughts Beyond Words /Bandcamp
The first genCAB album in well beyond a decade, and the strengths of this electro-industrial project are all on show again.
Out today / Party Cannon / Volumes of Vomit /Bandcamp
Everyone’s favourite death metal logo releases an album to back up the hype.
Out today / Anna von Hausswolff / Live At Montreux Jazz Festival /Bandcamp
I’ve still not managed to see AvH live yet, but this album only makes me more desperate to do so.

A few singles, too, this week:
12-Jan 2022 / LORN / YESTERDAY’S PAIN/CUT THE ANCHOR /Bandcamp
LORN’s new single is, as I might expect, pitch-dark electronics with a deeply oppressive feel.
13-Jan 2022 / SRSQ / Someday I Will Bask In The Sun /Bandcamp
Presumably in advance of a new album this year, the first SRSQ single in a little while is a glorious paean to hope.
Out today / M‡яc∆ll∆ / Pain of Water /Bandcamp
The mysterious Witch House artist has released a two-track single today, in advance of a new album (of which we have no details) next week.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

04-Feb 2022 / Nordic Giants / Symbiosis /Official Artist Store
The mysterious post-rock band return with their new album (I’ve heard the whole thing, and it’s awesome).
14-Feb 2022 / ESA / Designer Carnage /Bandcamp
ESA is back, and with quite a few guests this time around.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.

/amodelofcontrol.com/next week

Pressures away from writing mean that /Tuesday Ten/475 will likely follow this week, but little else. There is at least one Livestream coming up, too, details of that to follow during next week.
