/Welcome to the Future/197/Livestreams and new releases 10-Dec 2021

Edging closer to Christmas, and now releases have begun slowing down (most activity is around upcoming releases). /Countdown/2021 continued last Tuesday with Countdown/2021/Tracks, and I’ve finally begun clearing the interview mountain.

In the meantime, here’s the usual wrap of new music and suchlike this week.

/transmission – the amodelofcontrol.com podcast – has returned, continuing the run through of the a-z of industrial, with all episodes thus far are here. The latest episode is /transmission/024, which starts on the letter P. /transmission/025 will follow soon – at last!

You can also get it via RSS, on iTunes, on Stitcher, and is also now available on the Google Podcasts App (search “amodelofcontrol”) and Spotify too.

If you want to submit anything to be included here? E-mail me (You know what to do with that to make it work, right?), comment/message on Facebook at the amodelofcontrol.com page, and over on Twitter (@amodelofcontrol).

/Releases out today

/No Captains / Friends Like These /Bandcamp
Released last week and dropped into my inbox last weekend, this Bay Area (SF) band feel like a bit of a throwback, an alt-rock/funk-punk crossover that’s actually quite enjoyable.
/Dark Sky Burial / Omnis Cum In Tenebris Praesertim Vita Laboret /Bandcamp
Shane Embury of Napalm Death continues his fascinating electronic excursions.
/The Long Blondes / Someone To Drive You Home: 15th Anniversary Edition /Bandcamp
A well-deserved reissue for an unlucky band who deserved so much better.

/Theftuous / Entity (feat. One Minute Silence) /Spotify
The debut release from Theftuous brings in Yap and Massy from One Minute Silence for a bruising track that takes in a few unexpected turns, but in part, it sounds like the old OMS once again…
/Boris / Noël /Bandcamp
Ever felt like you needed Japanese experimental titans Boris covering Last Christmas?
/KLACK / The Politics of Dancing /Bandcamp
KLACK close their 2021 out with a cover of a classic early-80s track.

/Upcoming releases announced this past week

/18-Dec 2021 / HAEX / Aethyr Abyss Void /Bandcamp
The much-anticipated new album from HAEX comes (at last!) next week, and the thundering single Cursebreaker is a fantastic start.
/27-Dec 2021 / Faderhead / Years Of The Serpent /single on Bandcamp
Faderhead returns with a new album at the end of the month, and the lead single sounds like a return to the style of a few albums back.
/28-Jan 2022 / Alice Glass / PREY//IV /Bandcamp
Alice Glass releases her first full-length solo album in January, excellent new single Fair Game is out now.
/11-Feb 2022/ Author & Punisher / KRÜLLER /Bandcamp
The one-man/machine that is Tristan Shone is back, and the doomy melodicism of Drone Carrying Dread – and a Portishead cover (!!!) – things are about to get interesting…
/22-Feb 2022 / Collide / Notes From The Universe /Official Artist Store
Dreamy darkwave powerhouse Collide have announced their ninth (? – depending on how you count their releases, I guess) album and I for one can’t wait.
/25-Feb 2022 / Superchunk / Wild Loneliness /Bandcamp
Alt-rock band Superchunk continue their resurrection, and single Endless Summer is absolutely not the bright song the title suggests, as they tap into the growing panic around irreversible climate change.
/01-Apr 2022 / Tempers / New Meaning /Bandcamp
NYC duo Tempers return, and going on first track Unfamiliar, it feels to me like a subtle change of direction.

/Upcoming/Livestreams/Gigs/Club Nights/Events

Obviously, things change at short notice right now, and I’m updating events as they are postponed or cancelled, and also including relevant Livestreams as they are announced.

/amodelofcontrol.com continues to maintain an events calendar, but it has now moved to /amodelofcontrol.com/events – and is now a dynamic, searchable database, and you can add individual events to your own calendars. I’m currently fixing a couple of minor backend issues, so new events may not be added promptly, or be added sporadically.

If you have updates, relevant events for me, or want to tell me about something else, use the contact details above. It goes without saying that any gig or club still in the listing is subject to change at short notice, or may not happen at all.
