“It sounds like a fairy tale but, at the stroke of midnight, as the old year passed into the next decade, a new Queen was crowned. Now, America has Amy Lee, Holland has Floor Jansen, Sweden has Anette Olson, Italy has Cristina Scabbia and Finland has Tarja Turunen but the UK’s new Queen of Symphonic rock is London based Koburg.”
The Glass House Museum
“THE GLASS HOUSE MUSEUM opened for Christian Death at last November’s Carpe, and impressed us so much we just had to get them back! An up-and-coming female-fronted melodic goth rock outfit, they mix classic early Sisters and Stun influences with a passion and contemporary edge which set them apart from more generic contemporaries.” – Howard Rickards, Carpe Noctum
::WESTENRA:: emerged out of the shadows of Whitby Abbey in autumn 2019, three lost souls
each drawn to the dark mysteries and legends of that most magickal place: Luciferia (vocals), Karl
(guitars), and Dominique (bass).
They celebrated the release of their debut single “First Light” with a number of acclaimed high-
profile gigs over the November 2019 Goth weekend in Whitby, including the infamous Little Angel
pub and the inaugural Goth at The (Whitby) Brewery. An exclusive live performance at the Whitby
Rifle Club in December 2019 was followed with the release of the epic second single “The Last
Beat of Our Hearts” in February 2020.
Autumn of 2020 saw the band film live performances for a Channel 4 travel show “Trip Hazard: My
Great British Adventure” featuring comedian Rosie Jones, and for “Goth City 5: Video Nasty
(Internet Bootleg)” online festival.
The band’s debut album, “First Light” was released on 4th January 2021.
Esteemed Leeds goth club Carpe Noctum chose the band to perform at their re-opening after
Covid restrictions were lifted in the UK in September 2021, and they were invited to open the world
famous weekend-long Leeds Goth City festival. A second appearance at the Goth at The Brewery
event in Whitby in October 2021 saw the band play to a packed house (and beer garden) and fully
prepared them for their final gig of the year in December 2021 at the Whitby Krampus Run Ball
where they played with goth legends Inkubus Sukubbus and rising stars Auger.
A cover version of the Cliff Richard classic “Devil Woman” was released on 11th March 2022 and
serves as a taster for more new music from the band in the form of a four track EP “B r e a t h e”
due out in Spring 2022.
