/Gig/London/Portals all-dayer: Mountain Caller, Gilmore Trail, Parachute for Gordo & more!
February 20, 2022 @ 15:30 - 23:00 UTC+0£11
Yet another incredible Portals all-dayer showcasing the best up and coming bands. Mountain Caller will headline this edition.
The London based instrumental progressive rock trio, having released with debut album Chronicle I: The Truthseeker in November 2020, have stormed the London prog/post/experimental rock scene.
They have sold out their first pressing on vinyl and played Damnation Festival, 80Trees, Bloodstock Festival and our very own Portals Festival in 2021. They describe themselves as heavy progressive instrumental three-piece, who are driven to tell stories with music and want listeners to conjure up cinematic scenes in their minds. If one needs a sonic ballpark, think the infectious jamming of Elder and the dynamic cinema-scapes of Mogwai, underpinned by the mantric riffs of Sleep.
Gilmore Trail join us in preparation for their new album Impermanence, set to be released in early 2022. The instrumental quartet from Sheffield boast an array of sonic versatility, predominantly cinematic post-rock mixed with intricacies of prog and darker tones of metal.
Apidae is the production project of London-based producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Greg Hummell. Intricate and bold, a clearly defined luscious sound, albeit minimal in places and wonderfully produced this project really resonates with a wonderment.
Sadly Parachute for Gordo can no longer make this show, their tour with Mountain Caller has been postponed until September (check out the new London date here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1317644932031277)
Instead we have the incredible Ahsoka, hailing from Brighton, bringing some heavy stoner/grunge riffage and gnarl to the proceedings.
Maebe is the new musical alias of Michael Astley-Brown combining post, math and prog-rock. This full live band experience will be something special.
The Death of Us are a new heavy shoegaze band from London, after some incredible sounding demos we can’t wait to see them live.
FROST is a drummer and electronic musician exploring rhythm through process and framework to further understand pattern, texture and connectivity.
